Medziphema, February 11 (MExN): The Sub-Divisional Education Office under Medziphema sub-division was inaugurated by KT Sukhalu, IAS (Retd), Adviser, School Education on February 11. A long felt need of the area, the inaugural function of the new office was attended by public leaders, teachers and concerned officials of the department.
Speaking as host of the programme, Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd.), Dy. Speaker, NLA, thanked the government for installation of the office under Medziphema division where around 35 villages would directly benefit from it. He also acknowledged Tokheho Yepthomi, the then Minister for School Education in 2017, who has been instrumental in setting up of the office at Medziphema. Rio advised the public as well as community leaders to be vigilant so that students are not deprived of their rights. He also lauded the efforts of KT Sukhalu, under whose guidance the office is established today.
Rio meanwhile, requested the concerned department officials to consider rationalisation of schools and teachers, especially in villages where he cited that Rüzaphema Block-3 has no teacher at present since the only two deputed teachers have gone for training, etc.
The special guest, KT Sukhalu, IAS (Retd), Adviser, School Education noted that the new office is a dedication to the people and remarked that everyone should co-operate to uplift the record of the office through whichever way people can contribute in future. He also thanked the government of Nagaland and particularly, Zhaleo Rio who was the driving force behind the new establishment. Sukhalu remarked that the department will contribute its best for the welfare of the people but that “the public too must do its part in all matters related to development of schools and office.”
A press release issued by Thejangukho Yalietsu, Press Secretary, NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C stated that the programme was chaired by R. Amongla Jamir, DEO Dimapur, while Dojü Khate, SDEO Medziphema, was the Recorder. Dosau Kuotsu, President, NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C, who also briefed the gathering, thanked everyone concerned for the successful establishment of the SDEO office. Rev. Megovoto Kuotsu, Pastor, Medziphema Village Baptist Church, invoked God's blessings, Rokosier Savino belted a special song and Akhoto Kuotsu, President, Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho, delivered the 'vote of thanks' which was followed by a feast.
Meanwhile, during the function, the local MLA, Zhaleo Rio, donated one battery-operated wheelchair to a differently-abled person, Dhanraj, who has selflessly cleaned public toilets over the years. Rio further stated that Dhanraj was one of the few sanitation activists who have laboured for a cleaner tomorrow despite he being crippled since childhood.
