DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 23 (MExN): Excise personnel performing Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) duty have recovered more than 4000 bottles/cans of liquor in the last few days in Dimapur.
The Excise personnel under the Superintendent of Excise, Dimapur recovered 1068 bottles/cans of assorted liquor on February 22 at the Super Market area, informed a press release from Tarep Imchen, Commissioner of Excise & Prohibition, Nagaland. In this regard, one Bokato Sumi was arrested and booked under the NLTP Act 1989, the release said.
Further on February 23, the Excise Narcotic Cell personnel seized 1500 bottles/cans of assorted liquor from a godown located at Diphu Road, Dimapur. One person identified as Vitono (23) was arrested in this connection and booked under the NLTP Act 1989, the release added.
Meanwhile, Excise Mobile Squad personnel recovered a total of 1559 bottles of IMFL from various locations in Dimapur. In this connection, four persons were booked under the NLTP Act 1989, it was informed.
The Commissioner of Excise & Prohibition stated that the department will continue to check and maintain strict surveillance to curb the illegal flow of liquor in the state and requested all colony chairpersons, GBs and public to report any illegal activity/ transportation/ godowns of liquor to the authority.
