6th Batch SLDP underway
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): The 6th batch of School Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) got underway at SIEMAT Hall in SCERT, Kohima on September 10.
With an aim to equip the school leaders with relevant skills, enhance the governance and capacity of school leaders, the one-month SLDP training is being organised by the School Leadership Academy, SIEMAT, SCERT in collaboration with Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse (NECTAR).

During the short inaugural programme, Benjungdenla Yaden, Reader at SCERT gave a brief overview of the programme and emphasised that unlike other training programmes, SLDP is a very interactive and participant-centric programme, where they will be assessed based on their participation and awarded the certificate only if they qualify based on the credit points.
Wonthungo Tsopoe, Director, Directorate of School Education said school leadership has been identified as one of the most important components to ensure quality education in schools.He further highlighted the vital role of school leaders to achieve the State’s educational objectives and goals.

Stating that school leaders are the prime movers of leading change and enabling transformation, he emphasised that heads of schools need to be provided with leadership training in a professional manner which equips them with skills and strategies required to fulfil their responsibility effectively.
Avelu Ruho, Joint Secretary, School Education Department and Deputy Project Director of NECTAR Project, highlighted that the SLDP programmes is a compact but comprehensive programme and encouraged the participants to share best practices and take the opportunity to learn from each other.

The ongoing batch of SLDP will conclude with project work submissions and an online valedictory programme on October 9, 2024.
The SLDP programme is one of the many initiatives being implemented by NEP-The Lighthouse (NECTAR) to improve the quality of education, teaching practices, capacity building, and learning environment in government schools across the state.
