Effort to boost Hindi through better textbooks

Kohima, January 13: Khrietuo Mejhur, Additional Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Government of Nagaland inaugurated a workshop to evaluate the Hindi Text books (Elementary Level) of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh on January 13. North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), NCERT, Shillong in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore at SCERT, Kohima has organized the workshop.
 
Hindi textbooks evaluation needed in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh
Mejhur, in his inaugural speech welcomed participants and hoped that Hindi Text books will be evaluated properly in this workshop, which will lead to further enrichment of the textbooks. He further observed that attitude to Hindi has changed over the years in the State and this should be an opportunity for all of us to augment the teaching learning of Hindi in the State through better Hindi textbooks.

Dr. SK Pandey, Assistant Professor, NERIE, Shillong one of the coordinators of the program gave a brief background of the programme. Evaluation of Hindi Textbooks at elementary level was identified as one of the state needs of both Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh in their respective State Coordination Committee (SCC) meetings. After evaluating Hindi textbooks, supplementary materials for enrichment of Hindi Textbooks will also be developed later in workshop mode.

Dr. Sarajubala Devi, Assistant Professor, NERIE, NCERT, Shillong and one of the coordinators of the programme proposed vote of thanks. She thanked Khrietuo Mejhur, Additional Director, SCERT, Kohima for taking his valuable time out for the program. She thanked all including the participants who helped in the successful conduct of the program. She especially thanked CIIL, Mysore for their important help. The inaugural function was chaired by the local program coordinator, Dr. Philip BP, Hindi Coordinator, Directorate of School Education, Kohima.

The inaugural function was attended by Catherine Kikon, Sr. Academic Officer, SCERT, Kohima; Sukanya, TRA, SCERT, Kohima; and others participants from SCERT, Directorate of School Education and NERIE. The workshop will continue till January 19, 2014.
