After the runaway success of their maiden venture in 2003, the Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN) is all set to present the ‘2nd North East Super Model 2011’ contest. The mega beauty pageant with “Culture & Couture – synchronizing Faces, Fashion & Feminism” as the theme will be held October 28 at Dimapur.
A press note issued by Miranda Jamir, president, EGoN stated that the three contestants each from the ‘Seven Sisters states’ will vie for the coveted title, which carries cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000. The first and second runner up will receive Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively. The ten sub-titles along with cash prizes are: Miss Perfect Body’ (Rs.10,000), ‘Miss Talented’ (Rs.15,000), ‘Most Photogenic 2011’ (Rs.10,000), ‘Miss Beautiful Skin’ (Rs.10,000), “Miss Catwalk’ (Rs. 10,000), “Miss Beautiful Smile’ (Rs.10,000), “Beautiful Hair’ (Rs.10,000), “Most Popular-Audience Choice’( Rs. 10,000),‘Miss Congeniality’ (Rs.10,000) and ‘Best Modern Ethnic’ (Rs.10,000).
All contestants will also receive attractive gift hampers. The contestants shall be judged in the following: (a) Modern Ethnic Round: Denoting any traditional outfit (b) Designer wear rounds : Outfit will be provided by the organizers (c) Formal round: Evening gowns. Contestants should be between the age group of 17-25, single, with minimum height of 5.6 feet. The organizers will provide food and lodging for the three contestants along with one organizing member or chaperone from each state. Travelling allowance for the same for four people from each state will also be given. All concerned should reach Dimapur by October 24 evening and the training period will commence from October 25 till eve of the show. The focus of the NE super model contest is to promote young talents in creative performances in fashion and beauty, while also reviving and safeguarding the unique ethnic clothing and cultural attires of the many tribes and communities of the ‘Seven sisters.”
