Elected legislatures take stock of dengue cases in Mon district

Mon, October 12 (MExN): Concerned about the reportedly ‘increase in dengue cases’, six elected legislatures of Mon district visited the District Hospital, Mon on October 11. The members present were Advisor K Kongam Konyak, Advisor W Chingang Konyak, MLA Mankhao Konyak, MLA Manpon Konyak, MLA A Nyamnyei Konyak and Nyeiba Konyak. 

The main purpose of their visit was to know the managing system, the requirements of the hospital and what more needs to be done to tackle the situation, stated a press release from Leeyan Chemshy, Media Officer, NHM, Mon.

The meeting was held at the office of the Medical Superintendent, Mon where, K Kongam highlighted on the purpose of their visit and appreciated the medical establishment of the district for the appropriate handling of the cases so far. On behalf of the Mon legislatures, he also presented an amount of Rs One lakh to the district hospital for poor patient welfare.

Chief Medical Officer, Mon Dr Vezokholu Theyo and Dr Mereninla Senlem, MS briefed on the current scenario of the dengue cases in the hospital and the district. 

The meeting further led to wide array of discussions from all the present departments which include medical, administration, Konyak Union and the political leaders. 

After several round of discussions on the problems, requirements and issues, the meeting decided on few listed matters that needed to be implemented/resolved as early as possible. Stringent cleanliness drive in all the wards and innovative solutions on cleanliness should be initiated by the District Administration. As the disease is preventable, preventive actions and awareness should be implemented in all blocks before the cases reach the interior villages, it was resolved. 

The visiting legislatures also asked the department to list out all the requirements of the district and the hospital so that they could facilitate early redressal.
