Electing right and best candidate very crucial for Naga future: Hayithung

DIMAPUR, MARCH 15 (MExN): Independent candidate, Hayithung Bill Lotha has made an appeal to the Nagas to realise that the upcoming election to the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland will be immensely crucial and historic bearing in mind that whoever is elected as the next MP will “play the role of direct and very important link between the centre and the state apparatus in resolving the Indo-Naga Peace Accord.”

In such a political scenario where the lone elected MP is about to play a “great facilitator role,” electing the right and best candidate was extremely imperative for the future of the Nagas, Lotha asserted.

In this regard, the Independent candidate appealed to all section of the Naga populace to completely shun tribalism/ism of all kinds, condemn violence, discourage money/muscle power politics and solely focus on the candidate’s credentials and merits.

With three candidates in the fray including NDPP’s Dr Chumben Murry, Supongmeren Jamir from Congress, Lotha hoped that the Nagas will vote in an “intelligent and matured manner” and with a “clear ethical conscience” without any fear and favor.

“This is once in a lifetime opportunity for the Naga general public in voting the right candidate,” he added.

Lotha also claimed that if the Nagas prefer an Independent as their public representative, then it would be an added advantage as the winning Independent MP can go with any of the national winning alliance combination- either it be the ruling NDA or the opposition INDIA alliance, whichever comes to power.
