SVEEP Campaign awareness prog held in Tuensang

An awareness programme on SVEEP Campaign in collaboration with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and District Administration, Tuensang was held at Town Hall, Tuensang on December 12.
The resource person, HP Gupta, Graduate Teacher, GHSS Thangjam explained the foundation of SVEEP and its objectives in the Indian democratic set up. He discussed the qualifying years of young voters specially the female votes emphasizing on 944 national voter ratios in adverse to female while citing the importance of female voters and their contribution in the election processes of the nation.
“The government of India has a keen interest in uplifting the female voters so that the female section of the population can play a vital role in electing their leaders. Electoral registration should be a collective effort so that no eligible citizen can be left out,” Gupta said.
Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant, in his short speech stated that India is a democratic country and voting right is a democratic right of every citizen which cannot be deprived. “We always keep on complaining about the developmental activities of the state but it is us who elect our leaders so we should choose responsibly,” he said.
“We can also be an agent of change by spreading such awareness message without breaking the chain so everyone can be reached to act responsibility in nation building processes. We have a power with us to change the society but we lack in applying in the rightful manner, this is an era of change with government on our back support for change but it is us who fails to act in a right direction,” the DC added.
ADC Tuensang, Ajit Kumar Verma in his short speech said, “Every citizen who has attained 18 years of age is the voter citizen of our country and should take it as a responsibility and should contribute in nation building processes. There is no difference between male and female voters and should not be deprived as constitution of India says. The BBBP is very relevant looking into the lesser participation in every field”.
Highlighting on BBBP, Niamkoi, District Coordinator, MSK shared on origin BBBP scheme and its importance and objectives. Vote of thanks was delivered by Kevithitho Rose, EAC Tuensang while the welcome address was given by Ren Mozhui, AEO Tuensang. Noktsula, LDA Election Department chaired the programme.
