Electricity field workers suspends agitation

Dimapur, October 21(MExN): The All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) announced the suspension of the agitation that was proposed to be staged w.e.f October 24th 2011.The association stated that as per the written assurance given on October 21st 2011, by concerned authorities on behalf of the Government, the association decided to suspend the agitation.
However, they stated that the suspension is ‘temporary’ and any negligence on the part of the Government would prompt the association to resume the agitation.
In a press release issued by Panger Pongen, President, ANEFWA, Kelhousevi, Vice-President, ANEFWA and N.Lotha, Joint Secretary, ANEFWA, it was stated that the suspension was announced so as to give the Government the time to complete the formalities. It was added that the failure of the Government to fulfill the demands within the fastest reasonable time would deliberate the association to stage the said agitation at any cost and in under any circumstances.
It was further mentioned that the association appreciates the activeness of the Government in acknowledging the grievances of the workers and the consideration of the legal rights and plights of the association which includes the second phase creation of the 381 posts for regularization of W/C staff, immediate filling up of vacancies, enhancement of W/C risk allowance identical to regular employees and enhancement of uniform allowance. The association requested the appropriate authorities to do the needful within a reasonable period of time so as to avoid any unwanted turnover.
