Bank colony being one of the oldest Colony in Dimapur District is home to the DC residence, Department like NIDC Office, District TB Hospital, District Homeopathic Clinic and various rest House like the Commissioner’s rest Houses, Land revenue rest House and SBI Staff Quarters. In the past few years, a large number of Business establishments and multi storey Residential Buildings have cropped up in the colony bringing up the total house hold more than 400.
On the other hand, the Colony faces the highest frequency of Load Shedding compared to other colonies. The Transformer installed in the colony since beginning, seems to be much less in capacity than the required capacity. Frequently, Electrical Linemen have to be called for replacing either one phase or the other phase Fuse blown off. Most of the Electricity Poles have rusted base with gaping holes which is highly dangerous. It is also learned that certain Mobile Towers are also connected to the same Domestic line without separate transformer.
Various representations from the Public as well as the colony council fell on deaf ear by the concerned Department. It is earnestly requested to the concerned Department that a bold and positive initiative be taken to increase the capacity of the Transformer and also replace the existing rusted electric Poles for consumer satisfaction and safety. The positive step by the Department will go a long way in timely and better treatment of patients at various clinics and at the same time improve quality of life among the residence.
