
TURA, April 3 (NNN): Three houses in the village of Dalupara in South Garo Hills were completely damaged after a herd of wild elephants literally tore through the houses close to the international border with Bangladesh. The incident took place at about 4:00 am on Monday. The latest incident is the second of elephant conflict after a teacher was trampled upon by another herd near Gaptuli in West Garo Hills two days ago. The three residents whose houses were destroyed have been identified as Winston R Marak (35), Lokesh A Sangma (25) and Mini Marak (48). “There were heavy rains during the early morning when the elephants ravaged through the three houses. Thankfully alert villagers managed to avoid human casualty,” said a source.
