Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) & Taxes Advisor Kudecho Khamo today stressed on the need to preserve and promote the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Chakhesang tribe.
Addressing the 44th general session of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) at Phek Town Hall under the theme “Anchored in our values,” Khamo called upon the Chakhesang community to take pride in their rich culture and moral values.
Khamo also called upon the Chakhesang community to stay united and work in unison toward a common goal for all round development and a healthy society.
He called upon the people to exercise honesty, humility and hardworking attitude.
He told the gathering that lack of honesty will invite trust deficit, thereby hampering the growth of the society.
In this connection, he called upon the people to take honesty and integrity as the core character to proper in life.
He also challenged the youth to actively engage in the entrepreneurship activities and at the same time, asked them to wisely utilize their talents and abilities and make a positive impact.
Later, Khamo released a book on “Regulations on the usage of Chakhesang Attires and Ornaments (Part-1).
CPO President, Vezühü Keyho said that CPO had submitted a representation opposing the adoption of the National Highways Act, 1956 in Nagaland, asserting that it would infringe upon constitutional safeguards under Article 371(A), particularly concerning customary laws, land ownership, and resource rights.
Recognising the importance of equitable representation in public employment, CPO constituted a Committee on Job Reservation with Dr Chotisüh Sazo as convenor.
The Committee conducted a data-driven study and submitted representations to the Government of Nagaland and the Director General of Police, he said.
On 2-Lane Road matters, he said that the CPO Executive Council constituted the CPO Audit Committee on 2-Lane Road Compensation.
The audit is presently underway and an authenticated report will be placed in the public domain once it is completed, he said.
CPO general secretary Chepetso Koza presented the activities of the CPO.
K Puro and Dr Zavei Hiese highlighted the CPO constitution amendment and Chakhesang Attire Regulatory Board report respectively.
The session was chaired by CPO Vice President, Velapra Shijoh while welcome address was delivered by Phek Town Council chairperson Shevohü Nienu. Nürile Chizo presented a special song.
Phek Town Baptist Church pastor Rev Dr Vezopa Tetseo and Phek Town CRC Pastor Kevichosa Koza prayed for the session.
The session witnessed adoption of resolutions on various matters. Vote of thanks was proposed by CPO Finance Secretary Satahi Shüjo.
