Dimapur | March 17
Dimapur has over the past decade witnessed the establishment of several hospitals. While the increase has been reassuring, the lack of dedicated cardiac care units is being felt.
The vacuum will now be filled to some extent with the Eden Medical Centre (EMC), Dimapur opening a Cardiology OPD (Out Patient Department) with support from the Apollo Hospitals Guwahati. The OPD started on March 17 with a visiting specialist from Apollo Hospitals.
Cardiologist Dr. Rituparna Baruah (MD, DM, FSCAI) from Apollo Hospitals would be available every month for consultation. While no fixed consultation schedule was outlined, it was informed that the dates when the specialist will be available for consultation will be let known publicly.
“My availability would depend on my workload. But I am committed (to the arrangement),” said Dr. Baruah, who was here for the OPD launch. He was accompanied by his Apollo colleague, Dr. Rakesh Periwal, a Critical Care specialist and Abhijit Singh, COO of Apollo Hospitals Guwahati.
As per a media release, Apollo Hospitals “is utilizing its excellence in Cardiology” for the cardiology OPD attached to the EMC in Dimapur for the benefit of patients.
The release described Apollo Hospitals Guwahati as “a one stop Healthcare institution in the Northeast region that has been delivering quality and affordable healthcare services.” Its cardiology department specialises in 24X7 Cardiac Emergency, cardiovascular interventions like angiography, angioplasty, rotablation and device implantation along with preventive programmes, stated the release.
