Emphasis laid on harnessing potential of Nagaland’s youth

Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet 2024 under the theme “Enabling Potentialities” held its valedictory programme at Livingstone Foundation International College, Dimapur on November 1. 

According to a DIPR report, the event brought together students, educators, and officials to encourage and recognize the talents and abilities of college students across the state.

Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S Supongmeren Jamir who attended as the valedictory guest, emphasised the importance of harnessing the potential of Nagaland's youth to contribute to the nation's growth. He highlighted the role of education in empowering students to unlock opportunities and achieve their aspirations, the importance of unity, education, and active participation in shaping the future of Nagaland.

Highlighting the dynamic role of youth in society, Supongmeren urged students to focus on personal development and community building. Asserting that the future lies in the hands of the students, the MP said. “Education and self-discipline are your strongest tools to bring about positive change in our society.”

Supongmeren also underscored the value of leadership, encouraging students to cultivate a sense of responsibility and to pursue their passions while being mindful of their cultural roots. He emphasized the necessity for students to engage in constructive dialogue and work collaboratively towards resolving pressing social issues in the state.

Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose graced the event as the Honoured Guest. In his address, Sekhose said that rising youth unemployment and the scarcity of opportunities for growth, and highlighting the importance of physical activity stated, “A healthy brain makes a healthy body,” and urged the youths to engage in sports to support both mental and physical health.

Throughout the day, students participated in various competitions and activities, showcasing their skills in sports, arts, and academics.
