Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): Peace Channel Nagaland is holding the first training of trainers on the role of peace builders from January 22 to 25 at their Head Office Bishop House, Dimapur.


Peace Channel Media desk in a press release stated that the objective of the training is an effort to help peace builders to be more effective in the field of peace building in the communities, religions and educational institution, understand the consequences of conflict and the value of peace among the community they represent, enhance peaceful co-existence and psycho-social well being of the local environment by understanding exiting conflicts in the region, to learn non-violent methods of conflict resolution and to make peace building an integral part of the congregational mission which leads to personal change that will enable trust building and hope for the good of the people starting with oneself first.


Introduction to the training programme and purpose was led by Garrol Lotha, Projector Coordinator, Peace Channel, Peace Channel Vision 2030 for the State of Nagaland and her people to live and become an example for her neighbor and the world was led by Dr Fr CP Anto, Director Peace Channel and Dr Deben on the sustainable goal and model for leading the development of the strategies and Principles of the being a peace builder.


On day one, the resource person, Jenpu Rongmei, Founder and Director of Can Youth, Dimapur whose focus area is empowering youth of Nagaland through Life skills training and advocating rights of Children and youth. He spoke on the importance of monitoring, evaluation and documentation that is required tools to evaluate and defining the success of the projects undertaken. Having said that he also encouraged the participants by ending the interactive session inspiring us to do not so easy things apart from doing what is right.


Dr Fr CP Anto , Director, Peace Channel shared the vision 2030 for a peaceful Nagaland State and how to achieve it collectively using peace building tools and enhancing peace builders to be the bridge in resolving conflicts in the state, starting with oneself first and this was exercised through peer mediation  technique session.


Garrol Lotha, Project Coordinator emphasized on the concept and skills of Peace building and the importance of understanding the co-relation between peace and conflict and how it plays an important role in strengthening the foundation of human relationship.


Nepuni Paul, Project Coordinator and life skill trainer focused on the importance of communication skills of a Peace builder which plays a vital role in resolving conflicts and also is a cause in creating conflict. Various ways were highlighted on how every human being receives information and the understanding capacity one holds. 


Zephrey Lugun spoke on the Finance management and logistical support strategies while Dr Deben Bachaspatimayum, Asst Professor, NEISSR spoke on the sustainable goals of peace building and strategies to achieve it as an organization and as Peace builders. Alino Chishi, Project Coordinator highlighted the mission, vision of Peace Channel 2030 with the participants and shared on the strategies to achieve a sustainable goal for the state and its people.


January 24 will witness speakers including Dr Aküm Longchari, speaking on ‘Reconciliation in Peace building,’ Dr Ellen Konyak on ‘mental health and peace workers’ and Kallol Dey on understanding News Media and its influence vis a vis conflict & peace respectively. 


On January 25, the closing of training will be held at Zubza with Peace Activist Niketu Iralu for a time of reflection and listening on the theme – ‘Hurts not transformed, are always transferred’ by Rochard Rohr for the peace builders.
