MONGSENYIMTI, December 3 (MExN): International Day of Persons’ with Disabilities 2018 was observed on December 3 at Mongsenyimti Village Community Hall which was organized by Grace Society CBR Forum (Community Based Rehabilitation), Changtongya and Changtongya Block Disable People’s Organization in Collaboration with Mongsenyimti Village Council. It was held under the theme “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.” Around 120 people participated in the programme including 49 Persons’ With Disabilities. Thungchanbemo, SDO (Sardar) Mokokchung was the special invitee of the event. Speaking on the occasion, he encouraged the various stakeholders of the area to be responsible by bringing the disabled community to the main stream and adopt Inclusive policy and attitude towards the disabled community by giving them platform and privilege to showcase their talents. He encouraged the participants to know their rights based on the Rights for Persons’ With Disabilities Act, 2016. Exhortation was delivered by representative of Mongsenyimti Village Council and P.Renthy, Executive member of Changtongya Block DPO, followed by special song from Molung Imsong and special dedication prayer for Peoples’ with disabilities by Imli Ozukum Pastor, Mongsenyimti Baptist Church. Chubawati, Coordinator, Grace Society CBRF Changtongya stated in a press release that sewing machines and Carpentry tools were distributed to PwDs of the area with the view to encourage them to work harder and earn for their livelihood as well as contribute to the society.
