Kohima, June 18 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students' Union (ENCSU) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland to announce scholarship for the theological students from Nagaland. “It is very necessary for theological students in present era,” maintained a press release from ENCSU president, M Longre Chang and general secretary, Wangnei C Jessuhu.
The union has submitted a 'representation' to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Commissioner & Secretary for Higher & Technical Education, and Director of Higher Education to announce scholarship to the theological students from state share or from centrally sponsored scheme.
ENCSU anticipated that the present government will implement the same by this year so that the students could apply from the current academic year.
It urged the State government to look into the grievances of theological students, saying they face more struggle in terms of paying their fees compared to other secular students. “Hence, it will be very good if the State government could accept the grievances of theological students from Nagaland,” the union reiterated.
It pointed out that the theological students have been studying without any benefit from the government of Nagaland for many years.
In this regard, ENCSU hoped that the State government will understand and consider the appeal of students’ community.
