Energy run, quiz, singing contest mark renewal energy day in Nagaland

Kohima | August 20 : Nagaland along with the rest of the country today observed Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas- National Renewable Energy Day which is celebrated in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the then Prime Minister of India Lt. Rajiv Gandhi. The main objective of this event is to create awareness and sensitize the masses on the importance of renewable energy.
In the state capital, the day was marked by energy run, singing and quiz competition, organized by the state’s department of new & renewable energy. The rally on the theme “Energy Run” was flagged off by State Planning Board (SPB) deputy chairman Neiba Kronu. Kronu led the rally from Khuochiezie (Local Ground) to The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow along with M.K. Mero, Commissioner & Secretary, IPR and New & Renewable Energy and Director, Er.T.S. Angami and department officers, students from different schools of Kohima Municipal locality and media fraternity.
Several students joined that quiz and singing competition which was held at The Heritage in coordination with Music Task Force, Nagaland. Winner of Quiz competition: Ist Northfield School, Kohima, 2nd- Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima, 3rd- Merhulietsa Higher Secondary, Kohima.
Singing competition (Solo): Ist- Seyiekhrieto, Northfield School, Kohima, 2nd- Thejasano- DBS Kohima, 3rd- Ashuni, LFS Kohima. Singing Competition (Group): Ist: Merhulietsa School, Kohima, 2nd- Baptist High, Kohima and 3rd- Northfield School, Kohima. Minister for forest & environment, ecology & excise M.C. Konyak graced the valedictory function as the chief guest and gave away prize to the winners. The closing function was chaired by Er. Kavito Chishi, Joint Director, New & Renewable Engergy.
