Kohima, November 12 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officers' Association (ENGOA) has condemned what it termed as the “unwarranted and defamatory vilification” made against its bona fide member in connection with the recent induction of non-State Civil Service officers into the IAS.
Such personal attacks are baseless, unjustified, and contrary to the principles of fairness, administrative propriety, and the rule of law, the ENGOA stated in a release issued after a ‘thorough deliberation’ of the issue.
The Indian Administrative Service (IAS), being an All India Service, any selection undertaken in conformity with the prescribed Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) framework and Union Public Service Commission procedure is lawful, valid, and binding, it held.
The association also expressed displeasure over what it alleged as “efforts by certain individuals and entities to maliciously misinterpret the statutory provisions” and engage in “public vilification and character assassination” of a lawfully shortlisted officer after due process, who “bears no fault in the matter.”
“Such public vilification on social and print media platforms, without a logical or factual analysis of the procedural framework, is both unethical and legally untenable,” it contended.
Taking strong exception to the current incident, the ENGOA also announced its resolution to take appropriate legal recourse under the relevant laws of the land if any individual, association, or group “continues to vilify, malign, or defame the reputation of any member of the Association without valid cause or fault, through any medium including print, electronic, or social media platforms.”
While affirming its commitment to safeguard the professional dignity, integrity, and lawful rights of officers from Eastern Nagaland, the association urged all sections to exercise restraint and responsibility, and to refrain from any form of unverified, personal, or divisive commentary.
The ENGOA also reposed full faith in the competent authority to address the matter in accordance with the established law, fairness, justice, and equity among all Nagas.
