MLA Achumbemo Kikon, in the recently concluded NLA session, requested the NLA Speaker to take up the matter for enhancement of MLAs’ salary of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
“As of now, our salary is only Rs 50, 000,” he said, adding “how can we serve the people with that meager amount.” NLA Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer informed that the House Committee of the NLA Secretariat are undertaking elaborate exercises to review the salary of the MLAs in consultation with the Finance Department. He was optimistic that the House Committee will put forward its proposal to the government very soon and it will be in the interest of the all the members of the House.
