Dimapur, November 16 (MExN): Eastern Nagaland Legislatures’ Union (ENLU) led by Convenor S Pangnyu Phom, Minister for Health and Family Welfare; ENLU Secretary General Toshi Wungtung, Advisor IPR, SCERT & VG, along with Bongkhao Konyak, Advisor DUDA, H Haiying Advisor Prisons and Printing & Stationery; CL John, MLA and officials of DUDA met the Vice Chairman and officials of NITI Aayog on November 16.
The meeting was in regard to the development of the Eastern Nagaland region, a DIPR release stated. The team apprised the NITI Aayog in regard to the Prime Minister’s commitment for development of the Eastern Nagaland region, and for which certain selected areas were focused for the submission of project proposals such as education, road connectivity, health, tourism and agri & allied sectors.
The Vice Chairman NITI Aayog assured that the proposals will be looked into as per the feasibility reports from the concerned ministries.
Earlier in the day, the team also met Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and apprised him of the urgent need for up gradation of Village Guards in the State, which is a unique force in its structure and duties as compared to other parts of the Country. The Minister stated that the proposal of the State Government is under serious consideration by the Government of India.
