ENNWA extends solidarity to ENPO

Says it should not infringe on Naga political issue

Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): The Eastern Naga National Workers Association (ENNWA) today extended its solidarity with the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) on any form of solution for economic and social upliftment of the region.

The region has been neglected for more than sixty years in all fronts, stated a press release from the ENNWA, whose members comprised  of the national workers from Eastern Nagaland working in different Naga Political Groups, mainly under Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs).

The Association, being a part of Eastern Nagaland strongly support any developmental solution to relief the ENPO's plight unless it infringes on the Naga political issue, stated the ENNWA in a press release from its President Y Wangtin Naga and General Secretary Ritsa.

The Naga political issue involved more than seven decades with “thousands and thousands of lives and billions worth of properties, which cannot be easily compromised under any condition unless an acceptable and an honourable solution is arrived at between the Government of India (GoI) and the Nagas, it stated.

The ENNWA further pointed out that in realisation of  the futility of military engagement, the WC, NNPGs entered into political dialogue with GoI in first part of 2018 after signing of 'Agreed Position' on November 17,  2017.

The NNPGs have completed its political engagement with GoI but yet to sign a final agreement. Most of NNPGs approaches are realistic and pragmatic but without abandoning historical and political rights of the Nagas, it added.

Once the NNPGs and GOI sign final agreement, the major junk of pending issues will be resolved and Eastern Nagaland will share major part of it, the ENNWA stated.

Since, the present ENPO issue is more of economic in nature, the ENNWA stands by it, but after a solution with GoI, the former should yoke together with other Nagaland tribes for a long cherished Naga solution, it added.
