DIMAPUR, JULY 10 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) has made an appeal to the Prime Minister of India to lift the declaration of terrorist organization against the NSCN (K) under the stringent anti-terror law and initiate peace talks with the group at the earliest.
In a representation addressed to the PM through the Nagaland Governor, the ENPO on behalf of the people of Eastern Nagaland constituently comprising of 6 tribes namely, Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam, Yimchunger living in the far-flung region bordering Sagaing division and Kachin state in the North-West of Burma (Myanmar) said initiating peace talks with the NSCN (K) would pave way for restoring permanent peace and tranquillity in the region.
Maintaining that India is the world’s largest and most vibrant democracy where every citizen longs to live a vibrant life with a peaceful situation, the ENPO said the responsibility of ensuring peace in the Nagaland state is not only that of the people living here, but also that of the Central Government and the Nagaland State Government.
“...and for which, the people of ENPO appeal the Prime Minister of India and the State Government of Nagaland to initiate peace talks at the earliest so that peace and normalcy can be restored,” it added.
While appealing the Prime Minister of India to take a pragmatic step to the problem “so as not to confront with the same news of violence, crime, war and unrest,” the ENPO also put a word of caution that if this is not checked in time, “we foresee that there could be more burdensome future for the people living in the region.”
