N. Thongwang Konyak, Advisor, DUDA & LMCP today inaugurated Anghya outlet stall (ENPO coffee shop & retail outlet) at Midway Resort, Tsiepama along NH 29.  This outlet will facilitate the marketing linkage for products of talented artisans. The outlet is one of the outcomes of the three months capacity building training held under Underdeveloped Area Programme during 2015-16. It was organized by DUDA and conducted by Zynorique Initiatives Society.

“It is our endeavour that this outlet will have a far reaching affect in boosting the economy of the backward tribes in Nagaland,” Thongwang said.

He pointed out that Nagaland is a salaried economy where most of the state’s budget goes into paying salary to the state employed staff. However, there are also many youths who do not get opportunity to enter into government service, he added. Realizing this, he said the Department of Underdeveloped Area (DUDA) has initiated human resource development programme to generate self-employment opportunities, provide better livelihood with provision of basis amenities so as to alleviate poverty amongst youth of the state’s backward region.

Thongwang further said that the outlet will encourage and promote young promising artisans. “This stall will be a great window for all the artisans to expose their talents and thereby become self-reliant,” he stated.

Local artisans have been encouraged to bring their products to the newly opened outlet.
