Dimapur, June 13 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization has vehemently condemned the factional killing which claimed the life of late Panglau Phom, a cadre from the FGN, on May 27, 2009, in Tamlu town. A press note issued by ENPO president, P Mangko Phom, and acting general secretary S Manlip Konyak stated that the resumption of factional killing was very unfortunate and a big shame for Naga society before the outside world.
The ENPO pointed out that it was very hard to understand as to why killings prevailed while the Naga underground representatives are abroad working for unity and reconciliation. The ENPO reminded that the Naga public had given mandate during the Naga consultative meeting on March 2009 for unity and reconciliation among the Naga underground factions so as to bring a permanent solution to the Naga political issue.
“It is high time to say that Naga public is fed up and tired with fratricidal killings, kidnappings, extortion, thereat and intimidation”, stated the ENPO. As such it appealed to the leadership of all Naga underground factions to instruct their respective cadres to refrain from hunting and killing and to realise the “crying of the Nagas” for unity and reconciliation towards a permanent settlement of the Naga political issue.
