ENPO demand for FNT my no-1 priority, says Independent candidate Hayithung

DIMAPUR, MARCH 30 (MExN): Independent candidate to the 18th Lok Sabha election, Hayithung Bill Lotha on Saturday said the ENPO demand for a Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) would be his “topmost priority and agenda number-1” in the parliament if he is elected in the upcoming polls.

Acknowledging that the ENPO demand is a most genuine public demand and proposal, Lotha said his main political strategy would be to “pressure and force the central government to immediately accord and grant the FNT with full political, financial and administrative autonomy” and appointment of a “Chief-Executive Councillor (CEC) directly reporting to the Governor’s office without any other official intermediary.”

To prove his commitment on the FNT issue, Lotha said he was ready to embark on a “fast undo death till FNT is granted by the central with great powers and functions.” I am ready to “sacrifice my very life with the last drop of my blood” for the future generations and the greater good of the much deprived, downtrodden, and ill-treated Eastern Nagas of Nagaland, he stated.

The Independent candidate, meanwhile, blamed the State Government for not being serious in playing a politically dynamic role in materializing the FNT soon enough which, he claimed, has led to the continued delay.

Lotha also appealed to the Eastern Naga brothers and sisters to “vigorously check and strongly stop some vested interest Eastern Naga leaders who may be interested only after money, power and material wealth and selling the birth rights of Eastern Nagas to get the FNT.”
