ENPO issue, a common Naga Issue: Imkong Imchen

Kohima, April 6 (DIPR): The Phom Union Kohima celebrated its Silver Jubilee today, April 6, 2011 at Heritage Bamboo Hall, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama with Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen as the chief guest.
Phom Union Kohima celebrates 25 years
Gracing the function, Imchen said that the Phom people living in Kohima are celebrating Silver Jubilee displaying unity in thoughts and deeds. Dwelling on the ENPO issue, where they had submitted memorandum to the Central government asking for separate statehood, the Minister said that is not only the problem of ENPO alone, but also a common Naga issue. Today ENPO has 20 MLA’s, and if they are united they can do many things for their tribe, he said. He also stated that in these modern times, they should do away with the mindset of backwardness and dwell on the positive aspects of the society. The chief guest also released the Jubilee Souvenir
Short speeches were also given by Parliamentary Secretary for Industries & Commerce, Dr. Nihoshe, Parliamentary Secretary for RD, Pangnyu Phom and Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, P. Dako Phom. Presidential address was given by President Phom Union Kohima, C. Danted while Phom People’s Council President also exhorted the gathering. Scripture reading and invocation was rendered by Rev. Phomlee Van, Pastor Kohima Phom Baptist Church while special song was presented by Jubilee Choir male voice. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. S. Manyü, Chairman Jubilee Planning Committee followed by cultural show and jubilee feast.
