The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has resolved to temporarily lift all ongoing restrictions under the ‘Public Emergency’ with effect from March 21. It may be mentioned that in view of the joint coordination meeting with the ENLU and the MP, the ENPO had called for a total shutdown of Tuensang town. Yet again, the ‘Public Emergency’ shall continue to be in force until further notice, it stated.

This resolve was made during a public meeting convened on March 19, at CKS Hall in Tuensang town, to address concerns regarding the Government of India's inability to fulfil its promise of creating a Frontier Nagaland Territory before the declaration of the Lok Sabha 2024 Election Model Code of Conduct.

The meeting, attended by various tribal leaders and representatives, resulted in unanimous resolutions aimed at expressing dissatisfaction with the government's actions and outlining future courses of action.

However, members of the Eastern Nagaland Legislators' Union (ENLU) and the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), who were all reportedly camped in Delhi, awaiting appointment with the Home Minister Amit Shah and officials of the MHA, could not attend the meeting.

The meeting, which went ahead in spite the absence of the legislators, endorsed the Chenmoho Resolution of February 23, 2024, which declared a stance of non-participation in central and state elections and urged all citizens of Eastern Nagaland to refrain from voting until the Government of India fulfils its commitment to create the Frontier Nagaland Territory. The meeting entrusted the ENPO with developing strategies to implement this resolution effectively.

It was resolved that ENPO, would henceforth, be the sole conduit for all communications with the Ministry of Home Affairs, regarding matters concerning the Frontier Nagaland Territory.

It also resolved to write a letter to the MHA not to entertain any write-up/ suggestions with regard to FNT other than from the ENPO.

ENPO was authorized to convene another public meeting within a week, in collaboration with all 20 Eastern Nagaland Legislators' Union (ENLU) members, at Tuensang HQ, to further deliberate on the issue.

The resolutions were endorsed by representatives of various tribal organizations, including the CKS, KU, YTC, ESH, PPC, ENWO, KTC, USLP, ENSF, and ENPO. The meeting was chaired by W. Manwang Konyak, ENPO Secretary, and featured prayers, speeches, and discussions led by tribal leaders and representatives.

Among those present at the meeting were S Pangnyu Phom, former ENLU Chairman, and T Yangseo Sangtam, a former member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
