With the State Government failing to respond according to the demands placed by Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) on May 28, regarding the mishandling and mismanagement of Tuensang returnees, ENPO officials led by its Vice President, Setsacho Sangtam had a consultative meeting with the United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP) on June 10 in Kiphire.
Setsacho in an interaction with USLP officials said that demand placed by ENPO will not be compromised in any manner because what happened in Tuensang was a serious crime that needs to be fixed by taking action against the erring officials.
He said that the government has failed to respond positively according to the demand placed before it within stipulated time as set by ENPO. He meanwhile stated that the ENPO has also approached the Governor for his intervention, which yielded a positive outcome.
Setsacho informed that the ENPO was invited by the State Cabinet for a meeting on June 6 where it was made clear that the organization would not not accept the report of Judicial Inquiry Committee (JIC) set up the State government if it was not satisfactory.
He said the visit was primarily focused on seeking opinion and suggestions from USLP in the event of government failing to act upon the ENPO’s demands for further course of action.
Assuring unflinching support and cooperation towards ENPO, P Achumse Sangtam General Secretary, USLP said that the “USLP will not waver in its support towards ENPO till justice is served.” He added that truth has to be unraveled as to what happened in Tuensang. The USLP assured that it would stand with ENPO for further course of action.
Meanwhile the visiting ENPO team also called upon Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Sarita Yadav, IAS and extended its appreciation towards the district administration, police, medical and all front line workers for their selfless service during this challenging time.
It expressed satisfaction at the work done by the District Task Force (DTF) for effectively managing and maintaining Quarantine Centres at Kiphire despite limited resource.
