ENPO slammed for demanding release

KIPHIRE, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): In response to the ENPO’s demand of the Yimchunger Tribal leader who was arrested by the police, the family of Lt. Throngtsangki, Head GB of Zaonger Village, has appealed to ENPO and other NGOs not to restrain the law enforcing agency of the state from delivering justice. The family of the Head GB who was murdered along with six others during the February 8 incident after being taken out from Pungro DB’s court, stated that no NGO should take the law in their own hand or otherwise out of the culture.

The family justified that the state government had not made an undue or uncalled for random arrest. The law-enforcing agency has not acted arbitrarily but they have acted with absolute authority within the law, to uphold the sanctity of the law of the land, they said.

Hence, the family said that every NGO must appreciate the state government for trying their best to deliver the justice. The press note issued by T C. Tajingki, eldest son of the Head GB added that while trying to save somebody, no one should forget the law or the kind of crime they had committed. “In this regard the tribal bodies, Hohos in the state of Nagaland have legitimate rights to govern, to develop the right history, the right custom, the right of the culture but not the cost of innocent blood,” it continued.

The family went on to say that if the ENPO termed the action of the law enforcing agency on August 28 of arresting two tribal leaders as naked assault on the ethos and the pristine characteristic of the tribal populace, it showed that ENPO is trying to protect the “terrorist and criminal”. Saying that “Justice delayed is justice denied”, the victim’s family stated that it foresaw total breakdown of justice and fair trial in the coming days, if the ENPO or any outside organization or government jumps to conclusion without knowing the roots and bloody nature of the Zaonger issue.

In the light of these facts, the victim’s family appealed to ENPO and other NGOs not to restrain but rather extend full cooperation towards the law enforcing agency of the state in delivering justice as per law established. Further, the victim’s family has urged the state government and all authorities to ensure that justice is delivered and the supremacy of law should be upheld without any bias and any fear in general public interest.
