ENPO wants answers on Rs. 300 crore

Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) has sought clarifications from the Government of Nagaland whether the Rs. 300 crore given by the central government is an economic package or “some other additional fund to minimize the development deficit in eastern Nagaland.”

A note from the ENPO’s leadership received here today, addressed to the chief secretary of Nagaland, said the State government has been reiterating that the money was an economic package for the region “creating an impression that it has been granted to soften the stand of ENPO demand for frontier Nagaland.”  According to the ENPO their “enquiry” has “established’ that there was “no talk of economic package a such especially with the Home Ministry during the meeting with State delegation led by the honorable chief minister, Nagaland in New Delhi but it is an additional central resource (special planning assistance) allocated by the planning commission specially for development of underdeveloped areas.”

The ENPO has asked the government to clarify within 10 days to “avoid unnecessary confusions and contradictions.”
