Workshop on financial inclusion literacy campaign held at Tseminyu
Tseminyu, September 14 (MExN): Workshop on financial inclusion literacy campaign ‘Enriching the lives of rural people of Nagaland’ was held at Town Hall, Tseminyu on September 13.
It was stated in a DIPR report that this programme was organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in association with the North Eastern Council, Government of India, in which the District Administration of Kohima was a part of the programme.
ICC Regional Director- North East and Joint Director of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Ishantor Sobhapandit, during his key note address, said that the purpose is to impart know how about what are the advantages of maintaining a bank account and ways through which it can be beneficial in other areas as well. He also explained that the credit deposit ratio of North East Region which include Nagaland State need to improve. He therefore encouraged the people to improve their banking habits.
ICC Director also said that since North East India including Nagaland have agrarian economy, the public/farmers in the region have to be imparted knowledge about the credit facility and the newly launched government schemes, which can then make improvement in the livelihood of the rural farmers in NE region and Nagaland in particular and all these comes under the aims and programs of ICC and Government of India. He, therefore, called upon the farmers in the gathering to sincerely cooperate with the policies and programs of the Government.
Heads of banking institutions of Tseminyu, branch manager SBI bank, Vijiya bank, NSCB Ltd, participated in the campaign program and they spoke on the advantages of various banking facilities.
The programme was organized with special coordination from Kohima District Administration, where SDO (C) Kohima, Shaying Sheu and EAC Tseminyu, Kevingoto Kulnu attended the program and both spoke at the program as facilitators.
The programme was chaired by Siddhartha Roy, Executive Officer ICC NE-Region. Leaders from various business groups, farmers, GBs and public of Tseminyu town attended the programme.
