DIMAPUR, JUNE 22 (MExN): In the wake of the ongoing political crisis in Myanmar, there has been a notable influx of individuals and groups seeking shelter in Naga-inhabited states such as Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. A significant number from the eastern Naga regions, are taking shelter in Nagaland.
In this connection, the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Association (ENSA) has raised concerns regarding the provision of shelter, financial assistance, and fundraising efforts being conducted by various individuals and groups.
It observed that some people are exploiting the situation, particularly in light of the Junta’s recently imposed conscription law, to solicit financial aid or donations under the guise of assisting the eastern Nagas.
The ENSA has cautioned that these claims are not always genuine and may be driven by personal interests and profit. It, therefore, urged residents and organizations to refrain from providing financial aid or donations without its prior consent. It also warned that any activities carried out by individuals or groups without ENSA’s knowledge should be stopped immediately.
While requesting the Naga loving individuals, groups and organizations to exercise caution and vigilance in these matters to avoid any unwanted circumstances and ensure security, peace and unity among the Nagas, the ENSA said it will not take any responsibility for uninformed issues or incidents.
It meanwhile appreciated those individuals and groups who still hold the spirit of oneness and are helping the eastern Naga people while sympathizing with their living condition and problems.
