ENSF agitation in Eastern Nagaland from June 20

DIMAPUR, JUNE 18 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has decided to undertake an indefinite agitation in the four eastern districts of Nagaland starting June 20.

A press note from the ENSF Vice President, Hamnyei Angh and Assistant General Secretary, Kumcho Khiungpuh stated that the decision was made due to the failure of the state government to address the issue of relaxation policy for obtaining professional qualification for candidates belonging to the six Eastern Nagaland tribes during the meeting held at the Chief Secretary’s conference room.

It informed that the meeting was “inconclusive” and stated that the agitation would continue unless the “relaxation policy is extended” and the setting up of B.ed colleges in Eastern Nagaland and adequate DIET institutions are done.

“In spite of the federation’s representation being served there were no response from the government,” it informed. The ENSF added that it has “patiently waited and had even served a reminder but the cold response from the government has led to the serving with an ultimatum.” “But, in good faith agreeing with the state government asking the federation to defer the ultimatum, the federation had kept the ultimatum in abeyance hoping that an amicable solution will be the outcome of the meeting with the state government,” it said.

However, the ENSF expressed shock at the “nature of the state government,” stating that “instead of addressing the problem after repeatedly being served with a representation, reminder and an ultimatum there was no response from the state government.”
