ENSF demand redressal from NPWD over non-adherence to job reservation

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) has served a deadline to the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) for immediate redressal of the 25% job reservation policy and to compensate all those denied posts from the total list of appointees with effect from September 2015 till date within a period of one month.

In a representation, the ENSF reminded that the Governor of Nagaland, in exercise of the power conferred by Article16(4) of the Constitution of India, had directed that 25% of all categories, both gazetted and non-gazetted posts under the Government of Nagaland shall be reserved for the persons belonging to the 6 (six) eastern backward tribes viz, Konyak, Sangtam, Yimchungru, Chang, Phom and Khiamniungan of Nagaland in the four districts of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire in accordance to the Govt. Memorandum/Notification of the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department (Administrative Reforms Branch) Government of Nagaland vide notification No. RCBT-5/87 (Pt-II) dated Kohima, the 14th April 2011.

Further, in exercise of this notification, the Government of Nagaland, Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&R) have issued another Government notification vide NO.RCBT-5/87 (Pt-ll) Dated, Kohima, the 4th September, 2015 which ordered all the departments and all the appointing authorities to maintain the above existing Government’s reservation policy while making any appointment against any Government’s post.

However, the Federation expressed disappointment to have learnt that the NPWD have failed to adhere to these notifications in all the appointments made by the department since 2015.

Therefore, in the light of the above mentioned notifications, the Federation has demanded the department for immediate redressal of the 25% job reservation policy and compensation so as to streamline the principle of equal job opportunities in line with the prescribed Govt. Notifications. Failing which, the Federation cautioned that it will be compelled to initiate its own course of action.
