KOHIMA, APRIL 18 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has decided to undertake an indefinite democratic agitation at the Nagaland Secretariat in Kohima from April 21.
This decision was announced during a press conference called by the ENSF in the State capital on April 18, expressing disappointment at the government’s stance on the federation’s demand for inclusion of ‘exempted’ posts and departments from the purview of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board.
The ENSF has been demanding, among other things, the inclusion of these posts and 8 State Government departments in the SSB. During the press conference, the ENSF made clear that it supports the establishment of the SSB in order to curb down on backdoor employment and bring transparency in the government recruitment process.
However, the ENSF said that the existence of these ‘exempted’ posts and departments would not allow the SSB to achieve its goal to bring transparency. It informed that the 8 departments exempted from the SSB include the departments of Police, Prisons, Nagaland Lokayukta, Nagaland Police Telecommunication Organisation, Home Guards & Civil Defense, Fire and Emergency Services, Excise, and Forest.
On April 9, the ENSF with its federating units and other organisations of the eastern Naga region resolved to “proceed with further course of action.”
Earlier on April 3, the federation had convened a ‘crucial meeting’ with its federating units and other organisations of the eastern Naga region, criticising the “stone cold response” from the Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department on the 30 days ultimatum served to the State Government for inclusion of exempted departments and posts under NSSB.
