DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 5 (MExN): Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union, Dimapur (ENSUD), annual sports meet began on Monday at the DDSC Stadium. Comprising of six units, representing six tribal students’ bodies from eastern Nagaland, this is the ENSUD’s first ever games and sports meet in Dimapur and is themed ‘Oneness through sports’. The inaugural function was graced by MLA and NPCC president, SI Jamir as the chief guest.
Addressing the customary opening ceremony, Jamir took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the people of eastern Nagaland with whom, he said has shared a special bond since the beginning of his political career. Dwelling on sports as a profession, he said that it requires discipline and without confidence and determination one cannot make it.  Further, if a team has to excel, it has to have coordination and understanding amongst the team members, he added. Stating, “We’ve got potential that has to be developed in a proper manner,” he expressed hope that the students participating today will one day go on to excel in whatever discipline they choose; and the humble beginning of the ENSUD’s sports meet grow from strength to strength in the years to come.
The six-day long sports meet will feature football and volleyball. It will conclude on December 10.
