Mon, August 2 (MExN): Rotavirus Vaccine launching programme was held at Conference Hall of CMO Office, Mon on August 2. 


During the programme, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K (IAS) requested the health workers and the entire stake holder departments to put a combined effort to reach out to the targeted beneficiaries. He asked the department to ensure that no child is left out during the Rotavirus Vaccine Vaccination Campaign. 


Dr. Shasinle Tep DPO (UIP & RCH) Mon, while introducing the Rotavirus Vaccine, stated that the vaccine is used to protect against rotavirus infections which is a leading cause of severe diarrhoea among young children. The vaccine can be given to age children from 6 weeks to 1 year of age. She mentioned that the rotavirus vaccine is to prevent the viral component of the diarrhoea diseases. In Mon district, there are 593 targeted persons (may increase) which will be a routine immunization programme, she added. 


Dr. Kechongol Sophie, CMO Mon in his welcome address said that if we properly implement the rotavirus vaccine effectively diarrhoea cases will drastically decrease and the health status of the children will be improved in the district. Dr. Limatula Aier, DVBO Mon said the vote of thanks during the programme.
