Entrepreneurs, business community in Nagaland urged to avail UNNATI scheme

Nagaland Industries & Commerce advisor Hekani Jakhalu today urged upon the entrepreneurs and business community in Nagaland to avail the scheme of UNNATI-2024 (Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme).

Launched by Govt of India, UNNATI is exclusively for the north eastern states to foster economic growth and industrialization in the region.

The total UNNATI scheme outlay stands at Rs. 10,037 crores for eight north eastern states.

Addressing the state level awareness workshop on UNNATI- 2024 here today at the Directorate of Industries & Commerce Kohima, Jakhalu said that the awareness workshop has been conducted to ensure that the UNNATI scheme makes a positive impact in the state. Jakhalu maintained that entrepreneurs, business community and other stakeholders are the real wealth creators and job creators and the future of the state rests upon them.

She called upon the business firms, entrepreneurs and all the stakeholders to come forward in availing the scheme and bring progress in the society.

He wanted to see that Nagaland state finds in top three positions amongst the Northeastern states in the implementation of UNNATI.

“The department is here support you. The job of the department is not to do business but to support and facilitate whatever we can,” she said.

Stating that any type of political push or recommendation is not going to work in this scheme, Jakhalu said “Only genuine entrepreneurs and business community are going to benefit out of this,” she said.

Nagaland’s Industries & Commerce director P. Tokugha Sema called for proper dissemination of UNNATI scheme to ensure maximum number of entrepreneurs and business community avail the scheme from Nagaland.

He asked the concerned entrepreneurs to avail the opportunity being extended by the central government.

Powerpoint presentation on UNNATI Scheme was made by Fazlur Kabir Borah, Consultant, Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, Guwahati.

For this scheme, Borah said, everything will be done through online only.

He called upon the entrepreneurs to go for early registration to get fund from GoI as early as possible.

More powerpoint presentation were given by Penethung Lotha, Consultant, PIU and Vimeyiel Richa, Branch Manager, NEDFI during the interactive session with the line departments and stakeholders.

The program was chaired by T. Lemnon Wangsha, Joint Director Industries & Commerce while K. Francis Hekavi, Joint Director, Industries & Commerce proposed the vote of thanks.

About UNNATI 2024
UNNATI 2024 is designed to strengthen the industrial eco-system in the North East Region and attract new investment.
The registration deadline for this scheme is 31 March 2026.

By incentivizing industrial expansion and optimizing operations, UNNATI lays the foundation for a vibrant economy driven by performance and innovation.

UNNATI is solely for eight north eastern states- Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

The scheme is effective from 9 March 2024 and will remain in force up to and inclusive of 8 March 2034 and 8 more years for meeting committed liabilities.

The objective of UNNATI scheme includes; promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly  growth of new and expanding industries,  generating employment  opportunities,  focusing on regional development, developing an efficient  institutional framework, development of established, upcoming and potential  industrial  zones in the region and encouraging community participation.

For this scheme, positive list for the service sector includes; hotels & hospitality, tourism, (Homestays, adventure, health tourism, eco-tourism, film tourism MICE, ropeways, entertainment parks and rides), education ( Vocational & digital/e-learning, heritage property restoration services, Bio- tech, Fin-tech and financial services, healthcare, IT-ITes, BPO, EV charging stations and tech-oriented start- ups, units etc.

Eligibility for availing incentives (Minimum investment)
Manufacturing: Rs 1 crore in plant & machinery

Services: Rs 50 lakh in construction of building and other durable physical assets

Micro industries: Rs 50 lakh for both manufacturing and service sector

Rs 250 crore
Maximum eligible benefits to a single unit from all component of the scheme
