Entrepreneurship ‘a greener pasture’

Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra Foundation Day was observed at Lhisemia Community Syndicate (LCS) building, Kohima with the theme “Youth Leaders Capacity building Cum State and District Level Youth Leaders and Club Awards” for the year 2007& 2008. John Makhabo, district youth coordinator NYK Kohima informed this in a release.

Chief guest Imchatoba Imchen, president, Naga Students’ Federation congratulated NYKS for having conducted such youth capacity building of the youth in line with the state Government declaration the Year 2008 for Capacity Building. He was of the opinion that change is the ‘global dynamics’ of youth and theref0re called upon the Naga youth to keep a positive attitude and be partners for change to realize one’s goal. He also expressed concern and questioned the parent’s attitude towards wanting their children employed in the government sector alone. He also said that by taking up entrepreneurship the youths can be better off than solely depending on the govt. for jobs.

Neichute Doulo, Director of Entrepreneurs Associates animated the 2nd session on the topic “Entrepreneurship development among the youth”. Speaking on this subject he said there are lots of avenues where Naga youth can shine as an entrepreneur. ‘Government job is not the only lucrative job’ he said, but he sees entrepreneurship as a greener pasture. He challenged the youths to be more creative and innovative and called upon the youths make a hard earned living.  Doulo further challenged the youths present saying if change has to come it has to come through them. 

Fr. George Principal St. Mary’s Cathedral School, spoke on career options. Making a detailed LCD presentation on the topic he said, “Your career is what you make it, be proactive.” He called upon the youth to make use of all available resources for a successful career. There is no compromise in making the right choice of career to be a successful person, he noted. Concluding the presentation he said, “Success always starts with the right attitude, and never decide the mountain is too high until you reached the top.”

Awards for the state and district level Best Youth leader and Club Awards were given for the year 2007 and 2008.

Classic Club of Kohima District has also been awarded the State Level Best Youth Club Award 2008 and recommended for National Level Youth Club Award 2008. Earlier Peleneizo, National Service Volunteer welcomed the gathering while the keynote address was made by John Makhabo, District Youth Coordinator NYK Kohima. In all 54 youths attended the NYK foundation day.
