EPIC operation launched in Mkg, Phek

Mokokchung, June 1 (DIPR): First phase of photography for Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and Photo Electoral Roll (PER) has been launched in Mokokchung district on June 1. Nagaland Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen has officially launched the month long photography programme at his native village Mangmetong in presence of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Lithrongla G. Chishi and other officials from the district.
While launching the programme Home Minister said EPIC programme is one of the ‘laudable’ steps ever taken up by the government of India in the country and expressed hope that the introduction of EPIC would help ‘sorted out many problems comfortably’. He also congratulated the district administration led by the Deputy Commissioner for making all arrangements for the success of the EPIC operation in the district.
In her short speech Lithrongla Chishi expressed her gratefulness to the Home Minister for coming all the way from Kohima to launch the programme at Mangmetong village. She said launching of the EPIC programme in the district by no other than the Home Minister would encourage the electors to make a success.
After a brief launching programme, Home Minister and his wife were photographed for EPIC and put their signature in the Monitoring Register for photography of Electors. The first phase of EPIC operation will be carried out till 26th June 2011 where 181 Booth Level Officers will be involved in the operation.

Phek: The Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Phek, Mikha Lomi launched the first phase of photography campaign for Electors’ Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and Photo Electoral Roll (PER) for Phek District by getting himself photographed this morning the 1st June 2011 at his official residence. He is a registered elector of 16-Pfutsero Assembly Constituency under Phek District.
The DC & DEO has appealed to all section of the people including Political Parties, Village Authorities, Ward members, NGOs, churches and all civil societies of the district to extent utmost cooperation to Electoral Authority and assist the Administrative machinery, Designated Booth Level Officers and Assistants for clean, accurate and defects-free Photo Electoral Roll. He expressed confidence that this mandatory programme of the Election Commission is a step towards cleaning the electoral system and conduct of free & fair elections in the future.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election officer Phek, Mikha Lomi in a press release informed that the first phase of Photography operation for preparation of Photo Identity Card (EPIC) for Phek district has started on June 1 and will continue till June 26. In this context, the DC has therefore informed all electors of the district to approach the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO) at the designated Polling Station Location of their respective Polling Station to get themselves photographed during this period.
