Equal opportunities for women: Govt

Kohima, June 3 (DIPR): The development of women forms an integral part of the overall development programme of the state of Nagaland. In this regard, the State government has been examining to what extent it will be necessary, practicable and prudent to intervene to insure gender justice and empower women so as to make women co-equal participants and partners in the socio economic development of the state.

The government has thus far made it mandatory that women should be represented in the VC/VDB and also that women should have a separate share in the VDB programme. The government now, therefore, deems fit that women should have equal opportunities to avail benefits and facilities such as allotment of settlement of surplus government land to women in the form of ‘Joint Title’ holding to both husband and wife and providing largesse and other benefits commuted with various development programmes.
