Er Vevotolü Kezo, the first IAS officer (Regular Recruit) from Chakhesang community has been accorded a befitting honour today during a felicitation programme, jointly organised by Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) and Chakhesang Gazetted Officers Association (GGOA) at T Chikri, Pfutsero.
Hailing from Kikruma village of Phek district, Vevotolü Kezo attributed her success to God. She also acknowledged supportive environment from parents and well wishes throughout her UPSC journey. Stating that serious preparation require for UPSC exam, she stressed on the need to have determination and willingness, hard work and consistency, supportive environment, self confidence, sound physical and mental health and above all trusting God.
Stating that she will be leaving the state for Mussoorie for two month training by July 28, she sought continuous prayer support from each and every individual.
Addressing the gathering at Pioneer’s Complex Conference Hall, CBCC, T. Chikri, Pfutsero, Nagaland’s Power and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, KG Kenye said that cracking the UPSC exam was an achievement in itself, and being the first IAS officer (Regular Recruit) among the Chakhesang community was an added feather.
Kenye pointed out that Chakhesang being a major tribe had never been short in any aspect however it had been lacking a direct recruit IAS officer until now. He thanked Kezo for bringing good name to the Chakhesang community.
Kenye said Naga youths coming out successful in the UPSC was an achievement for all the Nagas at the same time an officer emerging from the community was a blessing.
CPO President, Vezuhu Keyho said that the long felt desire of the Chakhesang community to have an IAS officer has been fulfilled by God. “Today is a red letter day for Chakhesang community,” he said adding that everyone has a great reason to rejoice and celebrate the achievement of Vevotolü Kezo.
Keyho maintained that her achievement has brightened the horizon of the Chakhesang community, and also opened door for other young aspirants to take competitive exam with seriousness and strong determination.
Meanwhile, Keyho requested Nagaland government to pursue with the concerned authority for according Nagaland cadre to her.
‘Anything is possible with right mindset’
CGOA President, Vekhosa Chotso, NPS, said that it had become the collective aspiration and prayer of our people to see our children crack the UPSC to become IAS officers and God has shown us his favour.
The atmosphere among Chakhesang community has been buzzing with excitement, joy and a sense of triumph because of the incredible achievement of our daughter/sister Er Vevotolü Kezo who has become the first person from Chakhesang community to qualify into Indian Administrative Service (Regular Recruit), he said.
Stating that all frontal/area organizations, Village council chairmen gathered together to acknowledge her outstanding achievement and to express its thankfulness to God Almighty, Kotso said, “This is an incredible accomplishment that speaks volumes of your (Vevotolü) hard work and indomitable spirit.”
“We congratulate and salute you, he said adding “You have proven to our people that anything is possible with the right mindset and determination.” Your success has brought immense pride to our people and everyone is elated to see you become the trailblazer, he said and expressed optimism that she will continue to strive for excellence.
“The milestone has finally fulfilled the long aspired dream of our community as a whole. We extend our deepest gratitude to her, for her hard work, dedication, and the sacrifices she may have made through the journey,” stated Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) president Vezhodüyi Nakro in a congratulatory note.
CYF wish her the best, as she prepares herself to undertake the mammoth task of serving the country.
Khupo Kezo, father of Vevotolü also spoke at the programme and thanked each and every individual for sharing their joy and support.
Earlier, thanksgiving prayer was pronounced by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) executive secretary Rev Dr Chekrovei Cho-o. Chakhesang Cultural Organization and Wekhro-u Thele presented folk tune and special presentation respectively. The programme was chaired by GCOA Vice President, Kekhriezavi Lea and concluded with a prayer by Solhou Koza, pastor, PTCRC.
