
Dimapur, August 30 (DIPR): ERONET, a web based system introduced by Election Commission of India for various activities like inclusion or deletion of names in electoral rolls, was launched in Nagaland on August 30. Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha (IAS) stated the system will help a lot of people. He maintained no voter will be left behind irrespective of their language or physical ability.
The system strives to make an applicant’s entry in the electoral roll unambiguous and error free without much of a hassle. ERONET brings in seamless processing of forms, easy handling of the databases, regular and simpler way of monitoring and maintaining the health of the electoral roll. The inclusion, modification, deletion or transposition in the electoral rolls is done by filling and submitting online through the National Voters’ Service Portal (NVSP) htp://nvsp.in, which shall be processed in the ERONET. Link to the NVSP portal is provided in the website of the Election Commission http://eci.nic.in and the website of the Chief Electoral Officer http://ceonagaland.nic.in. Meanwhile, the forms submitted physically to the EROs/ AEROs/ BLOs will be digitized, uploaded and processed in the ERONET. All concerned officials have been trained at the State and District level for implementation of ERONET in the State.
In Zunheboto, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO) formally launched the ERONET. The DEO said ERONET will enable to maintain more data accuracy in the electoral roll. While encouraging citizens to apply online form through ‘nsvp.in’, the official said ERONET will also provide transparency and accountability of service to the citizens by facilitating applicants to trace the status of their application via email or SMS gateways.
In Dimapur, Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kesonyu Yhome officially launched the system in presence of ADC & ERO, Dimapur, Sara S Jamir, SDO (c) & AERO, Nympho Wallim, AEO, Dimapur, Roland Merry and representatives from political parties at his office chamber. The DC said people can register in e-roll online through this system after which the voter will get a unique ID with which they can check the status of the application and after receiving the online request, the BLOs will contact the voter for verification.
