Erratic power chokes Peren

Jalukie, April 8 (MExN): Life and business in Peren district have been adversely affected by frequent disruption of power supply. Educational institutions, printing and electronic shops and other commercial establishments continue to bear the brunt of the disruption since the past five days. Students were also affected.
“The past few days have witnessed power-cuts for seven-eight times a day and no one knows when it was and will be done”, lamented an entrepreneur from Jalukie town who owns a printing business. Customers were seen impatiently waiting their turn for their printing jobs to be done. On the other end, while businessmen — power being cut — gather round in some corner for some chatter; hurry to their shops as the ‘light’ returns. For the educational institutions, computer classes for students were ‘adjusted’ in a way that the lessons would be imparted only during the time power returns. “We do not have a power back-up, so we have to adjust our routine. But power being erratic, we do not know how to”, said a confused headmaster. Fluctuations in electrical power is also reported. “Sometimes, you can’t even start your computer; and the fan simply rotates because the power is too low”, said a businessman who owns a mobile repairing shop.
Electrical department personnel in Jalukie claimed over the phone that the erratic problem is ‘due to non-clearance of overgrown trees in the line and worn out electrical components’.  The season definitely may have added to the problem. The Jalukie Electrical department is closely overseeing the situation but Jalukie Town Youth Organization and Jalukie Students’ Union continue to appeal to the Electrical department to permanently fix the problem. The department is also requested to announce a time table for load-shedding to spare the public any inconvenience.
