ESI scheme extended to all districts of Nagaland

Kohima, January 8 (MExN): The Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme has been extended to cover all districts of Nagaland, the state’s Department of Labour Commissioner announced on Thursday.

The extension follows notifications issued by the Union Ministry of Labour & Employment, the department said in a circular issued through the state IPR.

The scheme will be implemented in two phases, effective from May 1, 2025, and November 1, 2025, respectively, as per the Gazette of India notifications dated April 15, 2025, and October 17, 2025.

Therefore, all employers in establishments with 10 or more workers have been directed to register their units and eligible employees by January 31, 2026. The establishments covered under the directive include shops, hotels, restaurants, road motor transport establishments, newspaper establishments, and private educational and private medical institutions.

For further details, employers may contact the Chief Executive Officer of the ESI Scheme in Nagaland or the Assistant Director at the ESIC Camp Office in Dimapur, the circular stated.
