Zhoi Lohe SDO (Civil) Phek and other dignitaries with winners of the easy competition held in commemoration of National Education Day on November 11. 


 

Phek, November 11 (MExN): The essay writing competition on the theme “Importance of girl child education in Nagaland” was conducted under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in commemoration with National Education Day on November 11 in all the five sub-division under Phek district organised by District Administration Phek in collaboration with District Level Centre for Women- Mahila Shakti Kendra.


In Phek Sadar, the programme was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Phek where 23 girls from eight schools participated in the Competition. Vilenuo Kapu, Women Welfare Officer, District Level Centre for Women- Mahila Shakti Kendra, chaired the programme.


Zhoi Lohe, SDO (Civil) Phek gave an introductory speech on the importance of National Education Day.
He also highlighted the importance of girl child education in our society where he gave a quotation for an African proverb "If you educate a man you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman you educate the whole nation".


The first and second position for Phek Sadar was bagged by Rhotolu Khusoh and Azeno Soho of Christian Mission Higher Secondary School Phek respectively. The third position was bagged by Neshelü Vero of Government Higher Secondary School Phek. The programme ended with distribution of prizes and a closing remark from Veposelu Naroh, District Coordinator, DLCW- Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek.


In Pfütsero Sub-Division the essay competition was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Pfütsero where 21 girls from nine schools participated.


In Chozuba Sub-Division the program was held at Government Higher Secondary School Chozuba where nine girls from three schools participated. In Chizami Sub-Division, programme was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Chizami where 11 girls from four schools participated. In Meluri Sub-Division, competition was held at Government Higher Secondary School Meluri with nine participants from three schools. The winners for all the five Sub-Division were awarded with a cash prize, certificate and five consolation prizes.
