Aghunato, June 25 (MExN): The Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) has reportedly found “deplorable and abandoned” school building constructions during its educational tour. The schools include GMS Ngozubo, GMS Viyilho, GMS Shevishe and GMS Kelto, under SDEO Aghunato and within the ESSU jurisdiction.

“These abandoned school buildings were reportedly sanctioned between 2010-2013 under erstwhile Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the projects were implemented by District Mission Authority, Zunheboto,” ESSU President Hokato V Yepthoi and Press Secretary Hika H Achumi stated in a press release.

The Union expressing its disappointment stated that “this time bound projects are meant to be completed within stipulated time but it is surprising as to why these school building projects could not be completed and were left abandoned for many years.”

It stated that ESSU is astonished seeing the lackadaisical attitude of the implementing agency of these projects which is “nothing but sabotage to education of our children.”

The ESSU therefore urged upon the concerned authority to look into this matter with all seriousness and take immediate measures in finding out the causes for the delay of completion of these projects and to ensure completion at the earliest.

It further stated that ESSU shall not remain a silent spectator but take any steps deemed fit to complete these projects as sanctioned.
