ESSU responds to ADC,SSA’s statement

Aghunato, August 12 (MExN): The Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) on August 12 responded to the statement issued by Ahito P, Assistant District Coordinator (ADC), Samagra Shiksha, Zunheboto.

Alleging that the DPO, SSA Zunheboto has been issuing ‘clarifications’ time and again “with an intent to mislead the appropriate District and State authorities thereby creating more confusion in this matter,” the ESSU said that its response was to clear the same.

The Union said that prior to its June 26, 2020 press release, some steps were taken to resolve the issue. The incumbent ADC, Samagra Shiksha Zunheboto Ahito P was the Project Assistant (PA) in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) who was in charge of school building projects under Aghunato Sub Division, assisted by some SSA officials undertook the construction of all the school building projects under Aghunato Sub Division and not the Village Education Committees/SMCs as claimed in the press release, the ESSU said.

It further stated that, after the school building projects were left incomplete and abandoned , the bank passbooks/cheque books of Village Education Committees (VECs) and School Management Committees (SMCs) were kept in the custody of DPO, SSA without authorization.

Several village authorities and ESSU approached the Deputy Commissioner and District Education Officer Zunheboto in this regard, the Union said.

The District authorities convened a meeting and a resolution was adopted to deduct the salary of Ahito P (Primary Teacher) until such time the construction of these incomplete school building projects are completed.

“So, the ADC Samagra Shiksha Zunheboto should know the reason/s as to why GMS Kelto, GMS Viyilho, GMS Shevishe and GMS Ngozubomi were left incomplete and abandoned,” the ESSU stated.

It further said that “Uketo Yepthomi, the former Accountant of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) who is working as Project Assistant (PA) in current Samagra Shiksha program Zunheboto can also assist the ADC to give reasons as to why the bank passbooks/cheque books of Village Education Committees/SMCs were kept in the custody of DPO, SSA and details of fund utilization of these projects.”

Regarding the meeting on July 15, the ESSU said that it had not received any official circular convening the same.

The Union also said that it decided not to attend the meeting convened by the ADC, SSA on July 1  “as it was convened by inappropriate authority and whatever resolutions that were adopted on unofficial meeting of 1st July 2020 has been nullified on 1st August 2020 Village Education Committee, Village Council, GBs, Village Students Union and ESSU Joint Meeting.”

In this regard, the ESSU has warned the ADC, Samagra Shiksha Zunheboto not to misuse the office, and that “facts cannot be distorted.”

It further added that it is waiting for the response to its August 6 ultimatum from the state authority that ends on August 20.
