Dimapur , April 13 (MExN): The Department of Civil Engineering at St. Joseph University successfully hosted Estribos 2025, the 4th National Level Technical Symposium, under the theme “Build Today, Lead the Way.” The event served as a vibrant platform for budding engineers, academicians, and industry professionals to engage in knowledge-sharing, creative exploration, and collaborative innovation.
The symposium was chaired by Lamlipa D and Tiani, students of B.Tech Civil Engineering, and began with the university anthem performed by the 4th semester students, followed by an invocation from Rev. Sr. Dr. Thaines Mary, Deputy Registrar of SJU. Dr. Ayilobeni Kikon, Assistant Professor and event coordinator, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of platforms like Estribos in shaping future-ready engineers.
In his presidential address, Dr. A. Robert Xavier, Registrar of SJU, lauded the Civil Engineering Department for fostering a culture of innovation and encouraged students to channel their skills toward solving real-world challenges.
Chief Guest Er. V Julia Achumi, Principal of Government Polytechnic Doyang, delivered a stirring speech, sharing her personal journey as a woman in mechanical engineering and urging students to approach their careers with resilience and purpose. She underscored civil engineering’s vital role in nation-building.
Guest of Honor Er. Atoba Longkumer, Co-founder of Tabernacle Technologies and consultant to the Ministry of IT, Government of India, offered insights from the tech industry and highlighted how innovation can address contemporary engineering problems. Er. Imtiwati Jamir, Past Honorary Secretary of IEI Nagaland State Centre, encouraged students to engage with the Institution of Engineers India for broader professional exposure.
A major highlight of the event was the official launch of Teleiotes 3.0, the department’s annual magazine featuring student articles, faculty research, and reflections. It was hailed as a testament to the department’s academic and creative excellence.
Viva K Aomi, General Secretary of the Civil Engineering Students’ Association, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the administration, faculty, volunteers, and participants for their contributions. The event concluded with a benediction by Rev. Fr. Dr. L. Anish, Public Relations Officer of SJU.
Coordinated by Dr. Ayilobeni Kikon and Miss Ilito Achumi, Estribos 2025 was attended by over 100 students and faculty members.
